Frequently asked questions about Quiz Creator
What is the Quiz Creator and what is it for in the classroom?
The Quiz Creator is a free tool for building and playing multiple choice quizzes directly in the browser, without sign-up or installation. Each question can have up to four options (A, B, C, D) and the teacher marks the correct one before playing. During the game, the quiz is projected on screen and the teacher controls the pace: decides when to reveal the answer, when to move to the next question and whether to activate the timer. It is ideal for reviewing content, running diagnostic assessments or introducing a topic in a fun way.
Is the Quiz Creator free? Do I need to create an account?
Yes, it is completely free and requires no sign-up. It opens directly in the browser (computer, tablet or phone) and works without an internet connection once the page has loaded. There is no limit on questions or games.
How do I create a quiz from scratch?
Click 'Add question', write the question text and fill in the answer options (minimum 2, maximum 4). Mark the correct answer with the green verification button. Optionally add an explanation that will appear when the answer is revealed in class. Repeat for each question, reorder them with the arrows if you want, and when you have at least one complete question the 'Play' button activates.
What is the topic bank and how is it used?
The topic bank includes 14 categories with 15 ready-to-use questions each: Natural Sciences, Argentine History, World History, Geography, Mathematics, Language and Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Art and Culture, Technology, Citizenship, Health and the Human Body, and Philosophy. Expand the 'Topic bank' panel, click the category you want and choose 'Replace quiz' to start fresh with those questions, or 'Add to quiz' to add them to what you already have. You can combine questions from several banks and edit them freely.
Can I edit the questions from the topic bank?
Yes. Once you load the questions from the bank they appear in the editor as normal questions: you can modify the text, change the options, update the correct answer, add an explanation or delete the ones you don't need. You can also mix bank questions with your own questions.
How does team mode work?
Activate the 'Teams' option in the settings and choose the number of teams (2 to 6). During the game, the team names appear as chips on screen. After revealing the correct answer, the teacher clicks the chip of the team that answered correctly to add a point. The system tracks the cumulative score and at the end shows a podium with the ranking.
How does the timer work?
The timer is optional and activated from the settings. You can choose between 10, 20, 30, 45 or 60 seconds per question. During the game, a visual bar shows the remaining time and changes color when less than 25% of the time remains. If time runs out without anyone answering, the bar stops, all correct and incorrect options are revealed and a 'Time's up' message appears. The teacher can skip the question or move to the next one with the corresponding button.
Can I import questions from a text file or spreadsheet?
Yes. Use the 'Import' button and enter the questions in this format, one per line: Question | Option A | Option B | Option C | Option D | correct letter. For example: What is the capital of France? | Rome | Madrid | Paris | Lisbon | C. Options C and D are optional. You can prepare the questions in Google Sheets or Excel, copy the content and paste it directly. The system imports all valid questions and adds them to existing ones.
Can I export the quiz to use it in another class?
Yes. The 'Export' button downloads the quiz in JSON format with all questions, options and settings. To reuse it, click 'Import', paste the file content and the questions load automatically. It is a simple way to save your favorite quizzes and share them with other teachers.
What school level is the Quiz Creator for?
It adapts to any level. With the pre-designed banks it works well from 5th grade elementary through adults. With your own questions you can adjust the difficulty to any age and subject: vocabulary for early childhood, science for elementary, history for secondary, technical content for vocational training or adult education. The visual format is clear and readable for projection on screen.
How do I use the quiz to review content before an exam?
The most effective approach is to build the quiz with the key concepts of the unit and play it in team mode: it generates healthy competition, exposes common errors in real time and lets the teacher intervene with explanations when a team gets it wrong. Activating the timer increases tension and forces students to think quickly. You can also use it as a diagnostic assessment at the beginning of a class to identify prior knowledge.
What pedagogies support the use of quizzes in class?
The Quiz Creator falls within Game-Based Learning and Purposeful Gamification: it turns review into an experience with rules, tension and reward. It is also a key tool for Formative Assessment because it lets the teacher see in real time which concepts students have mastered and which need reinforcement. In team mode, it activates dynamics of collaborative problem-solving and peer discussion.
What competencies does the Quiz Creator work on?
Beyond content review, the quiz works on Decision-making under pressure (choosing quickly with the timer), Metacognition (students evaluate live what they know and don't know), Frustration tolerance when the answer is incorrect, and in team mode, Collaboration and Argumentation to agree on the correct option among peers.
