Frequently asked questions about Educational Millionaire

How does Educational Millionaire work?

The game replicates the mechanics of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The class chooses a representative to answer 15 multiple-choice questions (A, B, C, D). Each question has four options and only one is correct. As levels advance, prizes increase and questions become more challenging. If the player answers incorrectly they lose everything accumulated, unless they have reached a safe haven: $1,000 (question 5) or $32,000 (question 10). They can also walk away at any time with what they have.

Is Educational Millionaire free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is completely free and requires no registration or installation. It opens in any browser, works on computer, tablet and phone, and is designed to be projected with a projector or interactive whiteboard.

Can I load my own questions?

Yes. Choose the 'My questions' option and enter your questions in text format, one per line: Question | Option A | Option B | Option C | Option D | Correct letter (A, B, C or D). You can prepare the questions in an Excel or Google Sheets spreadsheet and paste them directly. With 3 questions you can already play; the game mixes and repeats them if there are fewer than 15.

What topics do the pre-designed banks cover?

Educational Millionaire includes 8 themed banks of 15 questions each: Natural Sciences (planets, photosynthesis, DNA, periodic table...), Argentine History (independence, Belgrano, Malvinas, democracy...), Geography (countries, rivers, mountains, capitals...), Mathematics (percentages, factorials, prime numbers, Fibonacci...), Language and Literature (grammar, Cervantes, García Márquez, rhetorical figures...), Art and Culture (painters, musicians, tango, sculpture...), Technology (HTML, bits, Python, artificial intelligence...) and Citizenship (branches of government, voting, UN, Argentine Constitution). There is also a Mix mode that combines questions from all topics at random.

How do the lifelines work?

There are three lifelines available, each for single use per game: 50:50 eliminates two incorrect options and leaves only the correct one plus one incorrect one; Call the Teacher shows the name of the correct option for 30 seconds (ideal for the teacher to reveal it out loud or with a signal); Audience Vote generates a bar chart with percentages strongly biased toward the correct answer. In the initial setup you can choose which lifelines to enable for each game.

What school level is Educational Millionaire for?

With the pre-designed banks it is ideal for upper elementary (5th and 6th grade) and all years of secondary school. With your own questions, you can adapt it to any level and subject, from early childhood to adults, adjusting the difficulty of your questions. The visual format is clear and readable for projection.

How is it used in class with multiple teams?

The most common format is the 'hot seat': a student or team representative sits at the front and answers questions while the rest of the class watches. Then the game is restarted for the next team. You can compare the prizes reached by each team at the end. It also works with the whole class voting out loud which option to choose.

What pedagogies support this game?

Educational Millionaire is framed within Game-Based Learning and Purposeful Gamification: it uses the dramatic tension of the show format to review content with high motivation. It also relates to Formative Assessment (the teacher identifies which concepts students master and which they don't) and Question-Based Learning.

What competencies does Educational Millionaire work on?

Beyond content review, the game works on Decision-making (do I risk it or walk away?), Frustration tolerance (managing error and risk), Metacognition (evaluating in real time what you know and what you don't), and in group format, Collaboration and communication to agree on the answer with teammates.
